Did you know that according to U.S. News & World Report the best luxury car brand for 2021 is the Porsche? If you love driving fast and are looking to upgrade to a luxury car then we are here to share some tips on how to drive a luxury car fast and while staying safe.

Keep reading to learn the ins and outs of how to drive fast.

1. Choose the Right Car

Not all vehicles are created equal and there are different types of luxury cars to choose from. Some people are under the impression that all that is needed to drive fast is a big engine. The truth is that it takes more than a large engine when it comes to driving fast.

You need to take a look at the weight to power ratio, which is the ratio between how much the vehicle weighs and the horsepower under the hood. The key is to have the most horsepower with the lightest vehicle possible.

If you are not 100% sure about the right vehicle for you then you might want to consider renting a vehicle to test it out. A reputable luxury rentals company will have different rental options for you to drive.

2. Place Your Hands Correctly

When you are driving at higher speeds you do not want to go by what you were taught in your driver’s education class when you were younger, of having your hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2 o’clock. When you are driving fast or on a track you want your hands positioned at 9 and 3 o’clock instead.

This position will let you feel the front tires on the road and it will also help you be as accurate as possible while you are steering. You want to keep your hands in this position even when you are turning to ensure that you can feel the front tires as much as possible.

3. Sit Correctly

Sitting incorrectly is one of the biggest mistakes that new drivers make. First, you want to push your clutch pedal and brake all the way to the end of their travel range leaving your leg slightly bent and move your seat forward or back as needed to find your “sweet spot.”

Also, adjust the height of where you are sitting as low as possible but where you can still see out of the windshield. This will help reduce the center of gravity of your vehicle and it will also help you feel the road better with your own body.

If the seats have bolsters make sure that they are “hugging” your body so you’re snuggled in the center of the seat without sliding around while taking turns.
