Along with other famous billionaires, Gates founded The Giving Pledge. With this pledge, some of the world’s richest people have agreed to donate significant portions of their wealth to charity.
But it’s not just billionaires that are some of the most charitable celebrities. 
Let’s take a look at some famous faces that are using their wealth and influence to change people’s lives.

Who Are the Most Charitable Celebrities?

From starting up community kitchens that allow people to eat for free, to funding housing efforts in low-income areas, many celebrities use their means to help those less fortunate. 
Some of the most charitable celebrities in Hollywood are actually the quietest. They run foundations and offer grants often without media coverage. 
For example the I.Am.Angel.Foundation, founded by will.i.am offers college scholarships to students looking to study science, technology, mathematics, and engineering.

1. Oprah Winfrey

In 2007, Oprah opened The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. Based in South Africa, this school has provided education to many young girls. Over the last ten years, she has given more than $140 million to the school.
Additionally, Oprah gives millions of her personal wealth to The Oprah Winfrey Foundation which provides education grants to non-profits. 

2. LeBron James

Having been raised by a single mother, LeBron James now uses his extensive wealth to help children and families in need.
Key to his generosity is his goal to educate young kids and keep them in school. With that in mind, he has pledged over $42 million in scholarships to underserved students. 
The Lebron James Family Foundation raises money for a number of charities, such as the Boys and Girls Club and the After-School All-Stars. The foundation has raised over $40 million for the latter alone. 

3. Guy Fieri

Guy Fieri is very charitable. He has helped with feeding thousands of victims of the California wildfires. He also donated to help provide meals in Puerto Rico.
His foundation, Cooking With Kids set out to help children better understand their health and provide scholarships to students wanting to study in the culinary arts.
This year, Fieri raised $21.5 million to help workers in the food industry whose jobs were impacted by Covid-19.

4. Dolly Parton

Having been making generous contributions for decades, Dolly Parton is certainly one of the most charitable celebrities of all time. 
She has funded education programs and given time and money to animal rights charities. She has also participated in the Make-A-Wish foundation.
After the East Tennessee wildfires, Parton’s My People Fund gave $11,000 to families whose homes were destroyed. It also gave a further $8.9 million to help with relief and recovery.

5. Angelina Jolie

A UN Ambassador and creator of the National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children, Jolie is a well-known philanthropist and one of the richest actors using her name and wealth for the betterment of others. 
Her various foundations and charities work to help refugees and underprivileged people in third world countries. The Jolie-Pitt Foundation has donated millions to help open AIDS clinics and a school for girls in Tangi.
Over a ten year period, the foundation raised more than $40 million.
