Uber to launch flight sharing in NYC on July 9th

Uber is looking forward to offering helicopter rides starting July 9th according to a report from the NYT. Uber Copter as it called first be available in New York City.
Users who have obtained Platinum and Diamond status from the Uber rewards program will be able to book for flight right from the Uber app. For now, the flights will be from between Lower Manhattan and Kennedy International Airport which is an eight-minute flight and an hours car ride.
Customers can book for a seat on the five-seater helicopter on demand or up to five days in advance. Uber Copter will be available to customers from Monday through Friday during the afternoon rush hour.
Pricing for the flights will be determined by demand, but the average ride will cost between $200 and $225, according to Uber Elevate’s Nikhil Goel.
Back in 2016, Uber announced an aerial ride-hailing division called Uber Elevate which brought the possibility of flying cars to mind, before that happens, Uber has taken to helicopters to start the learning curve for this form of ride sharing.
