Famous tech leaker Evan Blass @evleaks tweeted a video of a foldable device which Xiaomi is purportedly working on. Evan Blass said on the tweet that he could not speak to the authenticity of this video or device
Though it’s unclear if this is actually a Xiaomi product, or even if it’s anywhere near market-ready, the tablet does seem to function and respond to touch gestures before folding up in thirds down to a size comparable to a smartphone.
It might not be a real product at all as Evan ends his tweet saying Hot new phone, or gadget porn deepfake?
Can’t speak to the authenticity of this video or device, but it’s allegedly made by Xiaomi, I’m told. Hot new phone, or gadget porn deepfake?
Looking at the video, if its an actual device, it far trumps what Samsung has been developing, the Galaxy X or any other foldable currently in development. the transition from open to fold seems seamless which Samsung has not been able to achieve with the Galaxy X
Samsung demonstrated the Galaxy X on a dark stage a few months ago. That phone’s ‘Infinity Flex’ display folds in the middle closing the tablet-sized screen on the inside revealing another screen on the front.
Other big phone manufacturers are racing to reveal their own foldable phones, especially after Google confirmed Android will support foldable phones. Oppo claims it will unveil its foldable device at Mobile World Congress in February, and while LG was supposed to show off its own device at CES 2019.
