Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp DOWN
Users of some of the worlds biggest social media, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp users were left wanting after they tried to log into their accounts today without success because the sites were down. The incident affected users all over the world.
The outage appeared to have affected users around the world, affecting both the mobile and desktop clients of the applications in the united States Europe and some parts of Asia.
Users turned Twitter as thousands of reports buzzed in within the first hour expressing their grief.
According to Down Detector, the outages appear to have started around 4:48 p.m. ET (8:48 GMT). By around 7pm, most of the problems appeared to have been resolved.
Facebook users reported to the service, posting comments and viewing photos showed an error message reading ‘Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue.’We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.
WhatsApp users said they could neither send nor receive messages on the app.
Some users tried troubleshooting the app by restarting, or delete and re-download did not resolve the issues.
On Facebook, about 38 percent of users reported experiencing a ‘total blackout,’ while 42 percent of Instagram users said they could log in, but couldn’t access the app’s News Feed.The majority of WhatsApp issues appeared to be connection-related. Approximately 40% of Messenger users said they couldn’t access the app due to server issues.
